OUR MINISTRIES AT CENTRAL

Serving the Lord through the ministry of the church is both the responsibility and privilege of every believer. Central United Methodist Church has many areas of ministry and we encourage each person to participate in this means of grace and blessing to others - and to discover that serving the Lord is also a means to draw closer to Him and His people.

HAVE FUN & LEARN ABOUT JESUS.

  • Sunday morning childcare available for infants and toddlers thru age 3.
  • We also share a children's sermon during each service before our youngest are adjourned to the nursery.

COME AND JOIN US SUNDAY MORNINGS!

Our classes meet from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Early Elementary class will meet for children ages 4 to 2nd grade. Our PowerXpress curriculum uses a rotation model to immerse students in a Bible story for weeks, engaging children in Bible stores and characters by becoming artists, scientists, cooks and musicians.

A second elementary class for 3rd-6th grade will also be studying PowerXpress with lessons and activities designed for older kids.

The Mi-High class for kids between 6-12th grade will be studying a video series bringing teens the message of the Bible through relatable movies.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

WHAT CAN WE DO FOR OTHERS?

From weekly community dinners and A.A. meetings to serving communion to our homebound members, we touch many lives in

our community.

ADULT GROUPS

ENGAGE IN FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHERS

  • Adult Sunday School is being offered from 9:30 to 10:15 am each Sunday after Labor Day weekend.  short-term bible study groups are offered several times a year. We study the Bible to know God better and to foster a Christian worldview for living to please Him.
  • The United Methodist Women's group is very active in supporting the missions of the global church. They meet throughout the year and hold special events, social outings, and various fundraisers for Missions such as the annual rummage and bake sale held the 1st weekend in October.
  • Our Friendship Group meets twice a month for fun & fellowship. Senior men and women gather for board or card games followed by light refreshments. Anyone looking to get out of the house for a couple of hours is welcome to join us.

CHOIR

We always welcome new members in our Chancel Choir.  There have been a lot of studies recently that reveal the many benefits of singing in a choir.  While any singing has rewards, there are reasons you should join a choir rather than simply singing in the shower. Studies have found that singing in a choir releases oxytocin, a chemical that manages anxiety and stress and, according to McGill University professor Daniel Levitin, enhances feelings of trust and bonding.  It doesn't even matter if you can sing well. Investigators found that those singing in a choir experience the same benefits even when “the sound produced by the vocal instrument is of mediocre quality.”

So…Even if you don’t sing like a rock star

or an opera singer,
we can find a place for you and

we would love for you to
reap these benefits just the same

by joining our choir!

When the voices of the singers surrounding you hit your ears, you’ll be bathed in dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain that is associated with feelings of pleasure and alertness. Music also lowers cortisol, a chemical that signals levels of stress.

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
It’s time to sign up for the choir!   Your good health depends on it!
