OUR MINISTRIES AT CENTRAL
Serving the Lord through the ministry of the church is both the responsibility and privilege of every believer. Central United Methodist Church has many areas of ministry and we encourage each person to participate in this means of grace and blessing to others - and to discover that serving the Lord is also a means to draw closer to Him and His people.
HAVE FUN & LEARN ABOUT JESUS.
COME AND JOIN US SUNDAY MORNINGS!
Our classes meet from 9:30-10:15 a.m. during the school year. Early Elementary class meets for children K thru 5th grade. They will be learning and growing using Grow Together Now,
which includes Sunday school lessons for children of all ages.
A second class for 6th-8th grades will be studying Be Bold: Fearless Preteen Curriculum which promises to validate their faith questions and give them a place to explore those quesitons together.
We often hold a christmas program with the combined classes of all ages!
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
WHAT CAN WE DO FOR OTHERS?
The annual CROP Walk hosted at Central Church and our monthly fresh food distributions are just a few of the ways we try to give back. Weekly A.A. meetings and serving communion to our homebound members also touch many lives in our community.

CHOIR
We always welcome new members in our Chancel Choir. There have been a lot of studies recently that reveal the many benefits of singing in a choir. While any singing has rewards, there are reasons you should join a choir rather than simply singing in the shower. Studies have found that singing in a choir releases oxytocin, a chemical that manages anxiety and stress and, according to McGill University professor Daniel Levitin, enhances feelings of trust and bonding. It doesn't even matter if you can sing well. Investigators found that those singing in a choir experience the same benefits even when “the sound produced by the vocal instrument is of mediocre quality.”
So…Even if you don’t sing like a rock star
or an opera singer,
we can find a place for you and
we would love for you to
reap these benefits just the same
by joining our choir!
When the voices of the singers surrounding you hit your ears, you’ll be bathed in dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain that is associated with feelings of pleasure and alertness. Music also lowers cortisol, a chemical that signals levels of stress.
SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
It’s time to sign up for the choir! Your good health depends on it!
