OUR MINISTRIES AT CENTRAL

Serving the Lord through the ministry of the church is both the responsibility and privilege of every believer. Central United Methodist Church has many areas of ministry and we encourage each person to participate in this means of grace and blessing to others - and to discover that serving the Lord is also a means to draw closer to Him and His people.

HAVE FUN & LEARN ABOUT JESUS.

  • Children are always welcome in worship at Central. However, at the current time we are not able to open our nursery.

COME AND JOIN US SUNDAY MORNINGS!

Our classes meet from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. during the school year.

Rev. Paul will be teaching a Bible study through the book of Isaiah. Like us, Isaiah and his disciples lived through a harrowing time in history, as they saw the northern kingdom of Israel snatched up by the Assyrian Empire before eventually being forced into exile themselves by the Babylonians. And yet, Isaiah points to a time with God filled with hope, despite these circumstances. What might this ancestor of faith have to say to us now?

The 6th-12th grades are using Colaborate Methodist Confirmation materials as we were last year when we studied the old and new testaments. This year our focus moves to John Wesley and the formation of the Methodist church, in preparation for confirmation. While we have been studying these materials for a year, we welcome all students between the grades of 6 and 12.

Andrea Gentner will also be leading a class for our Pre-K thru 5th graders.

Invite your friends and family to join us as we welcome in the 21-22 school year!

WE ARE ALSO PLANNING ON A CHRISTMAS PROGRAM WITH THE COMBINED CLASSES OF ALL AGES ON DECEMBER 19!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

WHAT CAN WE DO FOR OTHERS?

The annual CROP Walk and Christmas Basket program hosted at Central Church, monthly fresh food distributions, and semi-monthly blood drives are just a few of the ways we try to help the community.  serving communion to our homebound members also touches many lives.

ADULT GROUPS

ENGAGE IN FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHERS

  • Adult Sunday School is being offered from 9:30 to 10:15 am each Sunday after Labor Day weekend.  Classes vary from season to season, with time-off during the summer.
  • The United Methodist Women's group is very active in supporting the missions of the global church. They meet throughout the year and hold special events, social outings, and various fundraisers for Missions such as the annual rummage and bake sale held in September.
  • Our Friendship Group meets twice a month for fun & fellowship. Senior men and women gather for board or card games followed by light refreshments. Anyone looking to get out of the house for a couple of hours is welcome to join us  .

CHOIR

We always welcome new members in our Chancel Choir.  There have been a lot of studies recently that reveal the many benefits of singing in a choir.  While any singing has rewards, there are reasons you should join a choir rather than simply singing in the shower. Studies have found that singing in a choir releases oxytocin, a chemical that manages anxiety and stress and, according to McGill University professor Daniel Levitin, enhances feelings of trust and bonding.  It doesn't even matter if you can sing well. Investigators found that those singing in a choir experience the same benefits even when “the sound produced by the vocal instrument is of mediocre quality.”

So…Even if you don’t sing like a rock star

or an opera singer,
we can find a place for you and

we would love for you to
reap these benefits just the same

by joining our choir!

When the voices of the singers surrounding you hit your ears, you’ll be bathed in dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain that is associated with feelings of pleasure and alertness. Music also lowers cortisol, a chemical that signals levels of stress.

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
It’s time to sign up for the choir!   Your good health depends on it!
